Enable OneDrive for Business in CRM 2016 Online

Follow the below steps to configure OneDrive for Business in CRM 2016 Online.

Go to Settings -> Document Management and click on Enable OneDrive for Business.

After Click on OK, we can see the below message,

OneDrive for Business relies on server-based SharePoint integration. To use this feature, enable server-based integration and have at least one active SharePoint site.

Which means, we should Enable Sharepoint in CRM, before using OneDrive feature in CRM Online.

Follow the below steps to configure OneDrive for Business,

Step 1: Click here and follow my previous article to configure Office 365 Enterprise E3 Trial Subscription and Assign Product License to the required user.

Step 2: Next, we should configure SharePoint Online with CRM.
Click here and follow my previous article from Step 6 to Step 20 to configure.

Skip Step 7 – How to Integrate Dynamics CRM and Share Point Online and follow the below steps,

  1. Go to Office 365 Admin Page (https://portal.office.com/myapps).
  2. Click on OneDrive.

3. Copy the OneDrive Link and use this link to Configure SharePoint with CRM as mentioned in my previous article Step 14 – How to Integrate Dynamics CRM and Share Point Online.

Step 3: Once Step 2, successfully configured,

Go to Microsoft Dynamics CRM -> Settings -> Document Management. Follow the below steps

  1. Click on Enable OneDrive for Business
  2. Select Enable OneDrive for Business.
  3. Click on OK.

Step 4: Now we will upload a sample file and Test OneDrive Integration with CRM.

Go to Microsoft Dynamics CRM -> Service -> Accounts and open any existing Account record.

Click on Documents under Account record.

Step 5: Under Document Associated Grid,

  1. Click on Upload
  2. Choose File and give some Sample File to test.
  3. Select OneDrive under CRM Folder.
  4. Click on OK to upload the File associated with your Account record in OneDrive.

Step 6: We can see the File in Document Associated Grid and Go to More Commands and click on Open Location to see the Physical Location of the File.

How to configure subscriptions in MS CRM 2016 Online?

Follow the below steps to configure Office 365 Enterprise E3 Subscription in Online CRM 2016.

For more details on Office 365 Enterprise E3, please Click here.

Step 1: Create CRM Online 2016 30 days’ trial version. Click here to create.

(Or)

Use the existing trial Version, if you have.

Step 2: Open https://portal.office.com/. Provide your credentials and Sign in.

Step 3: Under Office 365 Admin center preview Home Page,

  1. Click on Billing.
  2. Click on Subscriptions.
  3. By default, can see only one Subscription “Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Trial” for 30 days.

Click on Add subscriptions, to find & subscribe Office 365 Enterprise E3 Trial Version.

Step 4: Under Enterprise Suite, can see “Office 365 Enterprise E3”.

  1. Hover on it, and click on Start free trial.

3. Click on Continue.

4. Within few minutes, the subscription will be added to your Office 365 account.
Goto Office 365 Home Page and goto Billing -> Subscriptions to see the Active Subscriptions. (If not refresh the page)

Step 5: Successfully we added the subscription to Office 365 account. Now we have to Assign License to the User to access Office 365 suite. Follow the below steps for the same,

  1. Under Office 365 Home, Goto Users -> Active users.
  2. Click on required user to provide the License. Then we can see User Profile.
  3. Click on Edit under Product licenses.

4. Click on Office 365 Enterprise E3 to make it On from Off.

5. Click on Assign.

6. Now we can see the Active Subscriptions under User Profile

Step 6: Click on App Launcher to see Apps under your Login,

Hide Welcome Screen in CRM 2016

When you open OnPremise/ Online CRM 2016 for the first time in a browser, we can see the below Welcome Screen Popup.

Follow the below steps to hide Welcome Screen,

Step 1: Goto Click on Main -> Settings -> Administration.

Under General Tab, Find Set whether users see welcome screen option

Click on No and OK.

How to Search Inactive records using Quick Find View?

Using CRM OOB, we can search Only Active records for CRM Entities, other than Case Entity.

Please follow the below steps to Search, both Active and Inactive records of Contact,

Step 1: Goto Microsoft Dynamics CRM -> Settings -> Customizations and click on Customize the System.

Step 2: Under Entities,

  1. Expand Contact Entity.
  2. Click on Views under Contact.
  3. Double click on Quick Find Active Contacts.
  4. Click on Edit Filter Criteria.

5. By Default, Status Equals Active which means CRM System will search only Active Contact Records.

Now Click on Clear to search both Active and Inactive Contact records.

7. Click on Save and Close in Quick Find View.

Step 3: Click on Contact Entity and Publish.

Step 4: Once Contact Entity Customizations Published,

Goto Microsoft Dynamics CRM -> Sales -> Contacts.

Search for the Inactive record in Contact Homepage grid.

Step 5: After Searching, can see the required Inactive record in the Configured Quick Find View.

How to Configure and Search Using Quick Find View in MS CRM?

You might get this requirement quite often to search records based on some field data.

Will see an example to understand much better.

Created a field named Twitter in Contact. Now the requirement is to search Contact based on Twitter data.

Follow the below steps to configure OOB Quick Find View,

Step 1: Goto Microsoft Dynamics CRM -> Settings -> Customizations and click on Customize the System.

Step 2: Under Entities,

  1. Expand Contact Entity.
  2. Click on Views under Contact.
  3. Double click on Quick Find Active Contacts.
  4. Click on Add Find Columns, to Configure Twitter Search in Contact.

5. Scroll down till you find Twitter Field and Select it. Click on OK.Add Find Columns

6. Now will add Twitter field Column in Quick Find View. Click on Add View Columns.

7. Scroll down till you find the Twitter field and Select it and Click on OK.

8. Now can see Twitter Column in Quick Find View. Then Save and Close.

Step 3: Click on Contact Entity and Publish.

Step 4: Once Contact Entity Customizations Published,

Go to Microsoft Dynamics CRM -> Sales -> Contacts.

Search for the Twitter in Homepage grid.
