  3. How to Install a Tool in XrmToolBox?

Now, in this article, I am going to explain about some important Tips that we can use it in XrmToolBox.

Tip 1: Create Tool shortcut

If you are using any Tool quite frequently in XRMToolBox, then you can create a shortcut of that Tool and place it on the Desktop.

Follow the below steps to do the same.

Step 1: Right click on the required Tool and Click on Create shortcut (Tool).

Step 2: You can see the message as “Shortcut FetchXML Builder has been created in the Desktop“.

Click on OK.

Step 3: FetchXML Builder shortcut has been created on the Desktop and Double click on it to open FetchXML Builder.

Step 4: Click on Yes to connect to the Dynamics 365/ Dataverse Organization.

Step 5: Choose the required Dataverse organization and Click on Connect.

Step 6: Tool will be opened with the required Connection.

Tip 2 : Set Favorite Tools

You can set your favorite tool by right clicking on the Tool and Click on Add to Favorites.

On Start page of XrmToolBox, you can see your favorite Tool under Favorites section of XrmToolBox.

Using this way, you can easily access your required Tool, without doing multiple clicks.

Tip 3 : Arrange Tools

By Default, all the Tools are displayed in Alphabetical Order.

Follow the below steps to change this order.

Step 1: Click on Configuration and Click on Settings.

Step 2: Under General -> Tool list display, choose Most used to see all the Tools which are used frequently.

Click on Ok.

Step 3: Close and Relaunch XrmToolBox to see all the Tools based on your usage.

For example, you can see the count 9 for FetchXML Builder, which means I have opened this Tool 9 times till now, after installing this XrmToolBox in my PC.

Similarly you can see the counter for remaining Tools as well.

Tip 4: Predefined Filters

You can click on existing filters provided in the Tools page to see all the installed Tools based on the functionality of the Tool.

For example, I have clicked on Migration filter to see all the Tools related to Data Migration.

You can enter the text in the Filter Text to see the desired result based on the Predefined Filters.

In the next article, will see some more Tips that you can use in XrmToolBox.
